Sources below are freely available online. (Not a comprehensive list!)

Note that many important sources of information are not free: they offer subscription access only. NCSU students, faculty, staff, and patrons can access these through the Libraries' website. Free sources are actually not free for everyone--they are usually paid for by grants, universities, or consortia. Sometimes they are works whose authors have chosen to provide freely. Or perhaps they are older sources with expired copyrights.

Accessing full text of articles

Many free sources only index material, and do not provide full text to articles. Journal subscriptions may be available through the Libraries, or via [Tripsaver|interlibrary loan].

NCSU students, faculty, and staff can also use the LibX browser extension to get to full text more quickly when searching from off campus.
