Creating Quizzes in Respondus to Upload to Moodle

You will need to download Respondus for this procedure.

If you are importing questions from a textbook you will likely need to edit the questions so that they comply to Respondus' markup. See the Respondus manual (pages 6-18) to view how to markup questions properly.

1. Open Respondus
2. Change the personality to "IMS QTI 1.1+"
3. Create questions as you normally would in Respondus
4. Click on the "Preview and Publish" tab
5. Click on the "Save QTI XML File" tab
6. Choose "Points as percentages 0-100%"
7. Choose "QTI XML zip file using IMS Content Packaging 1.1.3"
8. Click "Save As"
9. Give it a file name
10. Log in to Moodle and go to your course
11. Click on "Questions" in the "Administration" block
12. If you want to create a category for these questions
    1. Click on the "Categories" tab
    2. Type a new category name in the "Name" box
    3. Chose a parent category for this category.
    4. Click "Add category"
13. Click on the "Import" tab
14. Choose the "respondusqti"
15. Choose which category to upload the questions to
16. Browse for the .zip file exported from Respondus
17. Click "Upload this file"
18. Once the import is done click "Continue"
