The Flu-Proofing Your Course: Frequently Asked Questions page (currently under construction) provides a question and answer format to issues raised because of the H1N1/course continuity situation.
This page also provides you with the opportunity to post any questions that you may have related to continuing your course if faced with a socially distancing event, such as the flu. Feel free to login and edit this wiki, posing your own questions and/or contribute to the responses with your ideas.

3. What do I do if I have to miss class because I am ill or a family member is ill?
- Consider picking a "teaching buddy" who can fill in for you if necessary
- Craft your syllabus with enough detail that a teaching assistant or colleague can fill in for you if necessary.
- Have a back-up plan for each day of your class--special readings, online collaboration with other students, writing activities, special websites which explain the content in multiple ways, senior student tutoring via phone, etc
- Use appropriate technology to support course continuity
4. What are the best ways to notify my students that class is canceled because I am ill?
- Have a plan in place for:
- Contacting your students and telling then where to find course information.
- Notifying your colleagues
- Staying in touch with your TAs and other instructional staff.
- Set up a class email list, using the WolfWare class list, Moodle, or email your students via MyPack Portal
5. What are the best ways for students to notify me that they are ill?
- Provide your students with your email and phone number, letting them know your preference for contacting you regarding an illness.
6. How can I keep my course on schedule if I am out one or more days?
- Have a plan in place for utilizing TAs or faculty colleagues to temporarily support your course
- Use technology to support your course, see the DELTAwire posts for ideas.
7. Are there alternative ways for students to submit assignments while I am out?
- Plan for collecting assignments by TA's and other faculty
- Use technology to support assignment submission (more specific information/suggestions forthcoming)
8. Are there alternative ways to grade students' assignments while I am out?
- If possible, leverage TAs for grading, or ask a colleague to help as needed
- Use online quizzes that "self-grade"
