Halozeotypes

From WolfWikis

Jump to: navigation, search

Halozeotypes were created by the J. Martin research group at NCSU, building on a structural analogy to the well known family of compounds known as Zeolites.

Zeolites are generally aluminosilicates, which are extensively used as heterogenous catalysts, molecular sieves and ion exchange materials. In order to extend the silicate-based structural principles to more reactive systems, metal-halide analogs were created. The general principles originate with the analogy between SiO2 and ZnCl2.
