Upcoming Events
Spay and Neuter Clinic
IVSA will team with the Spay and Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP)of North Carolina on October 23 to target underprivileged non-English speaking pet owners in the community. In the weeks leading up to this event, we will display posters, advertise in local papers and magazines, and run ads on Spanish-speaking media. On the day of the actual clinic, there will be two mobile hospitals that can each do up to 30 surgeries per day. IVSA students will assist in not only communicating with people that bring in their pets, but also with the actual spaying and neutering operations.
Mayan Families aid
Located in Guatemala, Mayan Families organizes and runs monthly spay/neuter clinics. The spay/neuter cost per animal is only $20, which is possible because the clinic primarily uses donated medical supplies. However, in order to keep this amazing program running, donations of time and money are required. We will work this fall to support Mayan Families in several ways: (1) raise monetary funds to support the organization, (2) seek donations of expired medical supplies or used crates and cages for use in the clinics, and (3) organize a volunteer group to travel to Guatemala to assist Mayan Families with stray animal care.
Monthly Bake Sales
Will be held on August 20, September 1 and September 17.

International Veterinary Opportunities
Featured Opportunity of the semester: Rural Area Veterinary Services (RAVS)
The HSVMA Field Services Program (aka Rural Area Veterinary Services) is a non-profit veterinary outreach program combining community service and veterinary education to bring free veterinary services to underserved rural communities where poverty and geographic isolation make regular veterinary care inaccessible. Veterinary students may apply to work in clinics in various areas in the United States and internationally. But get that application in early- this is a fantastic but very competitive program!
