== Earth Day 2008 Meeting Minutes. January 24, 2008- Student Chambers – 12 P.M. ==
Attendees:
Lindsay Batchelor, Derek Moretz, Hannah Fornes, Paul Williams, Bill Winner, Sarah Ketchem, Elin Arnaudin, Laura Brown, Jennifer Hurley
1. Welcome and (re) introductions.
2. Contest- Wade, Lyra, Torsha
- Need to begin work on this ASAP
3. PR- All
- Everyone help my sending out Earth Day solicitation letter (Contact WRR for document)
4. Design- Bus465, Ryan, Derek, Wade
- Class has divided into 4 groups- Campaign, Design, Logistics, Research
- We need to establish deliverable dates for them as well as the mode of communication/updating.
5. Sponsorship- All
- Everyone should try to fine ONE new sponsor for Earth Week this year
6. Vendors/Exhibitors- Ryan
- Everyone should try to get ONE new exhibitor for Earth Day on the brickyard
- List of last years exhibitors are available- contact WRR
7. Music- Megan, Hannah,
- Bill Winner mentioned that WESA would like to be involved in the music planning
- Hillsborough Hike is on Friday, April 25th- the same day as the Earth Day brickyard event. There could be an opportunity to have music at establishments on Hillsborough be "sponsored" by Earth Week.
- Hannah also mentioned that she had a connection with an acoustic band to play during the Friday brickyard event.
8. Food- Elin Arnaudin
- Elin has met with Sarah Ashe and Robyn Stout, who are both very interested in participating with a sustainable food event.
- The main idea includes a pig pickin' with meat and veggies from local farmers.
- A possible partner is ECO, an organic farming group.
9. Movies- Cassie Bopp
- WESA is interested in collaborating on the movie selection.
- We currently have Monday, April 21st and Tuesday, April 22nd reserved for us at the campus cinema.
10. Earthwise Awards- Kim Bernard
11. Purchasing/Budget- Analis and Lindsay
- A trust account is being established for Earth Week to be able to accept donation and have flexibility with spending.
12. Volunteers- Hannah, Derek, WESA, BUS465
- It was mentioned to contact the Student Ambassadors for volunteers.
13. Kids Activities- Sarah Ketchem
- Sarah is brainstorming ideas for a environmental community service project for Earth Week that would involve kids and the campus community.
- She is also interested in doing an sustainable art project during the Earth Day event.
14. Operations- Lindsay and Paul
Other
- Jennifer Hurley, a Provost Fellow, attended the meeting and her group is interested in helping with the speaker series.
- Laura Brown, of the Sustainability Committee for the Inter Residence Council, attended and will be trying to find the best way for her group to participate in Earth Week.
