Literature searching (astronomy)
From WolfWikis
Databases used for astronomy literature searching include the following list. For most searching, try them in the order listed. ADS and Web of Scince will be the most comprehensive in many cases.
- NASA Astrophysics Data System or ADS. Best resource for astronomy. Comprehensive indexing, links to most full text, a few useful features.
- Web of Science. More general science indexing, but covers most major astronomy journals. Best overall interface.
- arXiv. Pre-prints in physics and related fields.
- Inspec. Physics and related fields.
- CDS bibliographic service. ADS is preferred for most astronomy literature searching, but this service also indexes most major literature.
Other databases (some more specialized, some more general), check the astronomy databases page on the Libraries' web site.
