NC State EARTH DAY 2008 Meeting Minutes Witherspoon The Senate Chambers November 29, 2007

Ryan- gave a brief history of the last 5 years of Earth Day celebration. They are Friday events, Day closest to Earth Day (April 20). Focus- Pull resources together with a diverse group. Meetings will start early January, every week. Today's Focus: Planning and Committees. Subcommittees can meet on own or through their network. Wednesday at 12:00

Teacher has classes on Tuesday and Thursday at 11-1pm. Kim will not be able to make it in spring until 1pm.

Lindsay- Earth Week is going to have a theme. Energy Speaker everyday is organized by sponsoring campus group. University will make announcement every night on what they will do toward Energy. Speaker and Committee will be very important.

1. Number of Vendors 60+ One day Event Kim- Can Earth Day vendors roll over to many days? Lindsay- The large amount of vendors is more visibly noticed. Ryan- Sustainable food vendors- hard to organize Maybe have food vendors on separate day. -Is brickyard the best place for Earth Day? Centennial might be a good place. Need help figuring out who needs to be here.

2. Sponsorship- Help find financing opportunities. -Create an account for money. Earth Day committee Create Non-Profit organization. -It can be done quickly -Lindsay will be meeting with Bill Winner. -Sponsorship letter we can give out. -Earth Day website have information for sponsors.

3. Design- Students did great last year (Design School)

4. Food- Bring Sustainable Food- Dining and IRC -organic food is not competing/ Bring Dining

5. Speakers- Energy Council has some leads

6. Movie- Work with Rick Gardner

7. Art- Recycled material Display -Design Contest -Staff Category, Faculty, and Student

8. Research/ Tech-

9. Games and Activities- students- Kid Friendly Games

10. Volunteers-

11. Budget- Funds going in and out.

12. Operations- Where is Energy coming from

13. Public relations/ Press

14. Music? no amplifiers on brickyard, only acoustic Harris Field is good for music


Communications- WolfWiki January- walk through process in January
