Online reference books

The NCSU Libraries provide numerous e-books, including important reference (PAMS reference) books. You literally have a whole library of reference books available to you virtually.
In general, reference materials have been identified by librarians and researchers as resources of particularly high research value. They are typically shelved separately from the general collection, in prominent places in the library, so they will be easy to find or discover, and browse. To make them available to all library users, they cannot be checked out. Most are not meant for sustained reading anyway, but rather read for quick reviews of a topic or to obtain specific data. Many (but not all) are available online.

Some of these have broad searches that cover all available content, other searches are best done within a specific title. Searching for a topic may reveal handy reference books you've never heard of before.

Search the library catalog to find other e-books. Search by topic and narrow your results to just e-books by looking under the Format options along the left column. Limit to Online->e-books. Also try limiting to Genre->Reference.
