Tips\communicating

From WolfWikis

Jump to: navigation, search

The wiki system allows you to communicate with other users (authors) in a variety of ways

Contents

E-mail

Because the only autors here have to log in under their NCSU alias it is not so hard to guess their email address. E-mailing has the advantage of being personal rather than public: anything you write in WolfWiki is there for everyone to see, for ever.

Talk pages

Every page has a corresponding talk page that you can access and edit using the discussion tab above the page.

It is customary to sign your remark and timestamp it by using four tildes ~~~~

The talk page is mostly intended to ask questions or raise concerns about the corresponding page. It is advisable to first use this avenue rather than start to interfere in or delete other people's writings. If you are the addressee it is good form to try and answer, but unfortunately this sometimes remains a pious wish. If you are eager for an answer you might want to read the following topic

User pages

Each use has a page all to his/her own. It also has a talk page. If you wish to address another user you can put a remark there. Next time this user logs in he will get a warning that he has a message. If you use a general talk page and you know the author of what you are trying to address, it is sometimes advisable to put a reference to the talk page on the user-talk page

Village pump

For general communication to the community of users there is a village pump page.
