This film describes how overconsumption of energy has led to cause Global Warming. The film offers many solutions to cleaner energy. They offer examples of the wind power that is being channeled in such places as Holland and India. Major wind farms are constructed to create power for people's farms or cities. Solar energy also plays a crucial role in creating clean energy. Solar energy is used a lot in Japan and Holland as well. An interesting part of the film was the description of the use of biogas in Vietnam. A family used animal feces to burn and create gas that was used as heat to cook with in their kichen stove- A very closed loop process. In Vancover, a group of city buildings used heat directly from the ground to heat or cool their offices. This method is called 'ground source heat' and was also a completely closed loop process. This film was realeased in 2000. It is very factual and seems to hold no political agenda. Turning Down the Heat was produced by Jimm Hamm Productions in co-production with the National Film Board of Canada.
