CEO
Center for Earth Observation
The Center for Earth Observation at North Carolina State University is a multi-disciplinary research and training center, established in 1983, located in the west wing of the fifth floor of Jordan Hall on central campus. The research facilities are composed of several laboratories specializing in Geographic Information Science. CEO Director, Dr. Siamak Khorram, is a Professor of Forestry and Electrical and Computer Engineering. CEO Associate Director, Dr. Hugh Devine, is in charge of the GIScience Research and Teaching Program. The faculty and the staff of the CEO are associated with the College of Natural Resources.
DELTA
Distance Education and Learning Technology Applications
DELTA fosters the integration and support of learning technologies. DELTA manages the university's learning technology infrastructure, including the Wolfware and WebCT course management systems, and the campus video classrooms. DELTA provides faculty, staff, and student training in the application of learning technologies through various programs offered by the Learning Technologies Service (LTS). In addition, DELTA coordinates the funding and production of all distance-based credit programs and courses for the university.
FCTL
Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning
FCTL facilitates teaching excellence at NC State by promoting faculty growth and development. We invite faculty and graduate students at NC State to use the center as a major source of teaching information and support. Join us as we explore ways to improve both teaching and learning.
GSSP
Graduate Student Support Plan
The Graduate Student Support Plan is a highly competitive support package used to attract top students to NC State. Under the Plan, students supported on a teaching or research assistantship or a fellowship of at least $666.67 per month and who meet the minimum registration requirement, receive (at no cost to the student) health insurance and (for a limited number of semesters) tuition.
KDL
Knowledge Discovery Lab
Scientific visualization and computer graphics research is conducted in the Knowledge Discovery Laboratory (KDL) as part of a joint collaboration with human-computer interaction, data mining, and artificial intelligence. Dr. Jon Doyle, Dr. Dennis Bahler, Dr. Robert St. Amant, Dr. Christopher G. Healey, and associated students and research colleagues are directing projects as part of KDL. Hardware resources include Sun Ultras and Sun Blades, SGI O2s, Dell Windows and Linux PCs, and RAID storage arrays by Dell and Network Appliance.
SPARC
Sponsored Programs & Regulatory Compliance Services
SPARCS provides services to facilitate the submission of proposals, negotiation of agreements, and the administration of internally and externally funded projects. SPARCS also provides services involving subagreements supported by funding provided to North Carolina State University. All aspects of the externally sponsored research and scholarship enterprise, including the pre-award management and the non-fiscal post-award management, fall under the leadership of SPARCS personnel.
